ONE WIN ACADEMY — The Coach's Intro
Wake up your young athletes' confidence — 10 minutes per session.
Confidence is built one win at a time. ONE WIN ACADEMY turns that idea into simple tools you run yourself, right there at practice — no theory, no equipment, no complicated prep.
You handle it all yourself. No outside help needed. 👊
This free guide gives you 3 ready-to-run exercises for your 9- to 14-year-olds, plus a closing ritual. Try them at your next session.
What the Academy builds in your young athletes
💪 More confidence — they learn to spot their wins, even the small ones, and build on them.
🎯 More enjoyment and focus — a stronger mindset, a practice that stays fun.
🧠 Simple mental tools — breathing, self-talk, preparation: reflexes they keep for life.
🤝 Better team spirit — they learn to encourage each other and celebrate together.
How it works 👇
Every exercise follows the same simple logic:
You explain (30 sec) → you do it together (a few minutes) → you celebrate (10 sec).
No psychology degree needed. Your superpower is showing your young athletes that they're already winning, every single day.
🌟 Exercise 1 — The Strengths Board · 5 min
🎯 Goal: learn to spot your own wins (the foundation of confidence).
What you say: "Confidence is like an invisible superpower. Today, we're finding yours. Everyone's going to name 3 things they do well in their sport."
How: Get everyone in a circle and start with yourself: "Me, I'm good at encouraging others."
Each person names 3 things they do well. If a kid gets stuck, help them out: "What about that move — you pull that off pretty well, don't you?"
We clap after every share.
Quick debrief: "See that? You all have strengths. That's what we're going to build on."
🎈 Exercise 2 — Balloon Breathing · 4 min
🎯 Goal: a simple tool to calm down and refocus, before a play or when things get hectic.
What you say: "When we're tense, our muscles are like rubber bands stretched too tight. We're going to learn to loosen them up so we can play better."
How: One hand on the belly. Inflate the belly like a balloon as you breathe in… then let it deflate slowly as you breathe out.
Count with them: "Breathe in, 1-2-3-4… breathe out, 1-2-3-4-5-6."
Repeat 4 or 5 times, unhurried. The hand on the belly should move more than the chest.
Quick debrief: "This tool is always with you — before a game, before an important shot."
💬 Exercise 3 — My Champion Phrase · 5 min
🎯 Goal: talk to yourself like a champion, with a short phrase that gives you strength.
What you say: "Your brain is like a garden: plant phrases that help you, and you harvest confidence. Let's plant yours."
How: Give examples: "I can do this," "I trust myself," "I give my best."
Everyone picks or invents THEIR phrase — short (6 words max), positive, no "don't."
Have them say it out loud with conviction, then use it through the rest of the session.
Quick debrief: "Whenever things get tough, say your phrase to yourself. Try it today!"
🎉 The Closing Ritual — Win of the Day · 2 min
To be done at the end of every session. This is the heart of the ONE WIN ACADEMY method.
Everyone names at least one win from the day: a move they pulled off, a teammate they encouraged, an attempt made despite fear, a comeback after a miss.
If a kid can't find one: "Me, I saw you…" — there's always a win.
Wrap it up with a team victory gesture (raise your fist, team cheer) or celebrate with a quick dance to this track.
Remember: one win a day is enough.
✅ Key reminders for the coach
Value effort over outcome. Any attempt is already a win.
Keep the tools short and simple, and repeat them: repetition is what turns them into reflexes.
Celebrate, even briefly. Your energy sets the tone for the group.
⚠️ Stay on sport and on what's concrete. This program builds confidence and skills — it is not therapy. We don't get kids talking about their private lives or their difficult emotions.
⚠️ You're not alone. If a young athlete worries you (distress, concerning remarks, marked unease), don't try to handle it on your own: refer to your club leadership, the parents, or a professional.

Consistency will do the rest — it's what turns tools into habits.
A young athlete who learns to spot their wins becomes a young athlete who believes in themselves.
